paper satellites, is a performance about the embodiment of “being here” and a re-discovery of home. My intent for the piece was to create a transformative, liberating experience where we could fully embody the idea of what is means to stay. paper satellites, was performed inside of greenhouse space no. 0101 amongst an installation of eleven projected layered drawings, collages and soft sculptures. In an opaque structure that placed us inside/outside in the same moment we created a visual landscape of our shared union and our individual inner experience through a series of intuitive movements as empathetic creatures.

above is an exterior view of the greenhouse space as a sculptural material that houses the performance, paper satellites . from a distance, the structure is a bright light, glowing in contrast to the darkness of the night sky; made from soft woven metal squares, air is filtered through the empty spaces of the mesh. the soft outer layer of the greenhouse space is a channel between the viewer, performers and neighboring greenhouse spaces; becoming a character within the work that reflects the idea of empathy through light, sound and atmospheric qualities.
